Dear GHS Students, Staff and Administration,
It is with great pleasure to inform you that GHS Senior, Martin Almaraz- Valdez, has been selected to represent Gonzales as our Career Technical Education (CTE) Student of the Year 2021 for showing exemplary character, responsibility and academic performance in his CTE classes. He has completed TWO CTE pathways at GHS and was nominated by his teacher, Mr. Jun who said the following...
"Martin has been instrumental in shaping the culture of our school. He has completed two pathways -- media and computer science -- and his grades are excellent. His creative abilities have been showcased in short films on the school's YouTube page that are still watched to this day. His work has been called exemplary by Amazon Future Engineer."
This evening Mr. Almaraz-Valdez will be recognized along with other nominees from Monterey County high schools at our annual Mission Trails ROP Awards Ceremony. In addition, Martin’s accomplishments will be highlighted in two press releases in The Californian and The Herald during the month of May and he will receive two certificates from our Senate representatives.
On behalf of the GUSD CTE Department, we would like to congratulate Martin on this achievement and wish him much success as he heads off to UCLA this fall!
Respectfully,
Candice M. Camacho
