The California Federation of Chaparral Poets has announced the 2023 Student Contest Winners! In the Senior Poem category, Maya Flores earned 3rd place for “You Threw Me out in the Water” and Sofia Navarro earned 1st Honorable Mention for her poem, "Oh, To Be". In the Light or Humorous category (10-12th grade), Aliyah Castillo took 2nd place for her work titled "Saltly Smells". GUSD has talent! Go, Spartans!

Gonzales Unified School District is proud to announce that junior, Sofia Navarro, won 2nd place in the AIM Art Contest (Youth Mental Health) for Monterey County!

Congratulations! This past weekend bands from both FMS and GHS attended a competition in the bay area. The FMS beginning band earned a Silver rating from the judges. The GUSD combined band also earned a Silver rating. Earning a Silver rating means that both groups scored in the top 20% of performing groups nationally. In addition to our band ratings, we had some students who impressed the judges and earned individual recognition. From FMS, Giselle Hernandez earned recognition for her performance in the percussion section. And from GHS Baltazar Nunes earned recognition for his performance on the trumpet.

Junior Gracie Leon was the champion of her weight class at the Ladies Coast Classic held at Santa Cruz High School. Teammate Cherish Yebra placed fourth.

Winter break! There is no school from December 19th to January 6th.

GUSD Band will hold their winter concert next Thursday, December 8th at the GHS Gym at 7pm.

La Gloria Elementary School will hold their annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 am - 3 pm. There will be food, fun, and crafts for the whole family! See you there!

Fall Break! There is no school Monday, November 21st - Friday, November 25th.
