Last Wednesday 29th, the Gonzales community were invited to attend a documentary, "El Susto," hosted by the Blue Zone Project, Monterey County, to discuss the hazards and unhealthiness of sugar and coke consumption in Mexico and the impacts leading to diabetes I and II. There were various tables representing various healthy agencies to discuss healthier eating options. Mr. Soriano and Dr. Guadalupe Arreola were guests on the panel to talk about their life experiences and prevention in regards to the documentary. Big thanks to Ms. Sonia Vallejo for putting together such an impactful and informative event!

Mr. Picardi's Dual Hartnell class had the honor of participating in the 2023 Leon Panetta Lecture Series (The Panetta Institute for Public Policy) at the Monterey Convention Center. Our students listened to the 1st Lecture Series on "The Presidency and a Divided Congress, Can They Govern, (The Economy and Inflation Can We Avoid A Recession?). Students from all over Monterey County were in attendance. They listened and asked questions from the guest speakers that included Michael Boskin, Professor of Economics at Stanford University (Advisor for President George H.W. Bush), John Harwood, Journalist and Former White House Correspondent, Maya MacGuinas, President, Committee for a responsible Federal Budget and Christina Romer, Professor of Economics, University of California, Berkeley (Advisor for President Barack Obama). Mr. Leon Panetta served as Secretary of Defense (2011-2013) and as a Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (2009-2011).

Thanks to our Art students in Mr. Velasquez' classes, the new water troughs for our FFA, AG Farm are getting some art work!

Region Migrant Speech and Debate Tournament held at Salinas High School on March 18th. The Spartans competed with schools from Regions I and 11. Our Spartan team was victorious taking 1st place and 2nd place. Kudos to Ms. Medina and Mr. Morales for preparing our awesome team!
